EYE EXAMINATIONS

At Pike Opticians we like to invest time in your eyecare. We provide unhurried eye examinations, allowing up to one hour for each appointment. This not only means that your examination will be thorough, it also gives you the time to ask any questions that you may have about your eyes or vision.

Optomap

Optomap is an ultra-widefield retinal imaging technology that captures a high-resolution image of up to 200 degrees of the retina in a single scan (conventional retinal cameras only cover 30 degrees). Using low-powered laser light, it produces a digital image that allows the optometrist to detect and monitor signs of retinal disease, retinal tears and age-related macular degeneration, as well as systemic health issues that may affect the eye.

OCT

Optical Coherence Tomography is a non-invasive imaging technique that uses light waves to capture detailed, cross-sectional images of the eye’s retina. Think of it as something similar to ultrasound, but for your eyes! These scans help detect and monitor various eye conditions, including glaucoma, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.

MECS

We offer a Minor Eye Conditions service in which the optometrist can examine more specific eye problems and conditions outside the realm of prescription changes. Examples include dry eyes, painful eyes, sticky eyes etc. The fee is dependent on the nature of the problem and the instruments that need to be used. Please note that in some cases we may refer patients direct to eye casualty or the local triage service
